Summits

It all depends how closely, you see
boulder or crumb
dinosaur or bird
early or alone

Peer down from our warm
tech dungeons
Sol drenches our past
in sparkling light
and powdered shade

Descend to terra firma
reuniting with our now
to find scratches in the mud
just where the tulip ought
to grow

It all depends how truly, you know
Seasons and Moon
breathe absolutely
resolutely
and Sparrow tends unquestioning
her mastery
while wrapped in dye and acrylic we
press pause repeatedly
to gain entrance to a
wonderland of ruse
happily bathed neon distraction

Then once in a while blinking
we climb the Hill
ribbons of pathway rubbed smooth
by countless journeys before
drenched in pain but girded by that
sweet scent of tender young pine
emerging upon the Vista

distant cities shrouded in mist
far beneath
crowns of the vast range
